Romania: Over 2,000 cases confirmed by coronavirus
Romania has exceeded the threshold of 2,000 cases confirmed by coronavirus on Monday evening, which is why it is entering scenario 4, Agerpres reports.
The head of the Emergency Department, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Raed Arafat, announced that more than 2,100 positive cases were confirmed with COVID-19, of which 593 were in Suceava.
"The report of the National Center for Leadership and Coordination of Intervention, at 20:00, shows that there are, at this moment, 2,109 confirmed cases in the country and 65 deaths that are caused by COVID-19. And here I want to emphasize the special situation in the city of Suceava. Of the 2,109 confirmed cases, 593 are in this city alone," the DSU chief said in a statement at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In this context, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Marcel Vela, announced the issuance of the Military Ordinance no. 6 by which it was decided to quarantine the Suceava municipality and a neighboring area made up of eight communes, but also to establish a protection zone on some administrative-territorial units in Suceava county.
On Monday evening, the Strategic Communication Group announced that the infection with the new coronavirus was confirmed for another 13 cases, all of them dying in the last week. Thus, the number of those who died from this cause reached 65.
All the 13 people, between the ages of 40 and 80, were admitted to the Suceava County Emergency Hospital, in several sections: nephrology, internal diseases, plastic surgery, gastroenterology.
The deaths were recorded between March 22 and 29, and the date of confirmation of the positive results to the INSP is March 30.
