Writer and dissident Paul Goma, 84, died Tuesday night in Paris because of COVID-19, writes news.ro.
"Following a message received from France, with regret and great pain, I announce the death of the great writer and dissident Paul Goma, on the night of March 24 to 25, 2020. Paul Goma was admitted on March 18 to the hospital La Pitié Salpêtrière, following the infection with the coronavirus ”, writes a statement by Mariana Sipoş, the biographer of Paul Goma, cites G4media.ro.
According to Filip Goma's son, in keeping with his father's wish and taking into account current restrictions in France, Paul Goma's body will be cremated and the funeral urn will be laid in the Columbarium, at the Pére Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
Paul Goma was born on October 2, 1935 in the village of Mana, Orhei, Basarabia, where his parents were teachers.
